Unmatched location, but the house needs urgent maintenance. Our Easter weekend was a bittersweet experience. While the location is absolutely brilliant—honestly, you cannot find a better spot in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley—the house itself is currently in a state of neglect that hindered our stay. Cleanliness and hygiene issues: The property is in dire need of a deep clean. Specifically: Linens: Bedding in all rooms was dated and stained; hand towels were old and discoloured. Dust and pests: The common area ceiling is covered in dust and spider webs, and cupboards clearly haven't been wiped out in a long time. General upkeep: It’s evident that furniture isn't moved during cleaning, as thick dust has settled underneath. Bathrooms: We found mould in the master shower and a heavily stained, unpleasant showerhead in the guest bathroom. Maintenance and amenities: Several items are currently unusable or unsafe: The upstairs mattress is broken and provides no support. The upstairs toilet and basin are loose and pull away from the wall. Kitchenware: The non-stick pans are severely scratched (and unsafe for cooking), and the teapot is rusted on the inside. Essentials: For a four-night stay, we were provided very little toilet paper with no extras or indication of where to find more. The beauty of the surroundings is truly unmatched, and we would love to return someday. However, we sincerely hope the host addresses these maintenance and cleanliness issues to bring the interior up to the standard of the location.
