Description
This restored pioneer cottage dated 1881 is closest to the river and nestled on an outcrop at the foot of the Swartberg. It has a stunning view of the nearby river and mountains. The cottage consists of 2 bedrooms, one of them containing 2 single beds as part of an open plan lounge and the other one contains a double bed with a bathroom with shower and toilet. Bed linen and towels are supplied. There is also a separate outside toilet, close to the bush. Gas serves a warm water geyser, hot-plate and fridge, while light is provided by solar lamps. The kitchen leads to a large veranda with outside barbecue area. Please note: in order to get to Eagle’s Nest you need a 4x4 or higher vehicle that can drive over 2 drifts and the road can be a bit rocky.

There is no electricity inside the cottages. We provide mostly solar lamps and/or rechargeable lamps. Please handle any candles with care. There is no cell phone reception on the farm or in the valley. Limited WiFi is available at the main house.
Bookings will be confirmed upon receipt of the 50% deposit. The final 50% is to be paid 1 week before arrival. If bookings are made within a week of arrival, the hosts require a 100% deposit. Bookings are made on a first-paid, first-served basis. Bookings need to be confirmed at least 1 day in advance so we can make necessary arrangements in time.
In order to reach Eagle’s Nest, a 4x4 or a vehicle with reasonable clearance to drive over two drifts and some small boulders is required.
