A peaceful, scenic stay at a fascinating historic property. Don Don River Mill was one of the most incredible places we've stayed at. I read a lot of reviews from people saying that they regretted just stopping over for one night, so we decided to spend a few, and they were absolutely correct. Before we even got there, the person assisting us went out of their way to recommend a different unit to the one we originally wanted to stay in, and it was definitely better suited. The property is one of the most beautiful that you will see. The Leroux unit is about 50 or so metres from the Caledon River, and on the other side is the most gorgeous view of rural Lesotho. The service was fantastic. Johannes was incredibly friendly and was there to help with anything. Our wood was filled when used, he helped with some cleaning, which was very unexpected and appreciated, and he even prepared both the fire and braai places each day. So massive thanks to him. All of the furniture throughout the property was so interesting, and you can see that it was cared for, with a lot of history. The mill itself was a fascinating sight, and really added to the appreciation that we had for where we were staying. A couple of things to note: * We were fully expecting to be without signal for our stay, so it was really surprising to find out that at least the unit that we stayed in, Le Roux, had WiFi. * Your reception switches to Lesotho due to the close proximity, so make sure that roaming is on. * From what we read, we believed that the accommodation was completely solar supplied, but again, to our surprise, it was switched to on-grid power, and the geysers had plenty of hot water. * I really recommend exploring the area. It is one of the most scenic parts of the country! * If you're not carrying additional fuel, I highly recommend stopping at Tweespruit if you are travelling from Joburg along the N1. Hobhouse had no one serving the petrol station when we arrived. * Definitely make sure to download offline maps. Overall, there was absolutely nothing that we'd complain about. It was one of our all-time favourite stays, and we are hoping to make it an annual winter trip.

Peaceful and pretty. A peaceful, pretty place on the Caleson River. We enjoyed our overnight stay.

Sielsrus! Wat 'n wonderlike oornag opsie op pad huis toe. Ons sou beslis nog 'n dag of twee langer kon bly, bloot net om die rustigheid behoorlik in te drink. Dit was deur en deur die moeite werd om af te wyk van die hoofpad, om die rus en vrede van Don Don te kon ervaar.

Ons het lekker ontspan. Baie interessante plek, heerlik gereën en die rivier het sterk gevloei.

Wonderful accommodation. The unit was right on the river. Very peaceful. The unit was clean and well looked after. Just make sure you bring everything with you. Hobhouse has no shops.

Baie rustige wegbreek. Ons het baie lekker gebly. Alles was presies soos hulle ons belowe het.

Interesant. As die plek kon praat, sou mens seker vir ure kon luister. 'n Lekker plek met baie interessanthede. Sou meer tyd daar wou spandeer, maar was gebruik as 'n halfweg stop Kaap toe. Ons was daar met die water in vloed, maar dit lyk of dit 'n lekker visvangplek ook kan wees. Lekker gebly.
