Elianthe Guest House is a lovingly restored Victorian heritage property on the historic Voortrek Street in Swellendam — one of South Africa’s oldest towns, nestled between the Langeberg mountains and the Breede River Valley.

Built in 1830, the property carries the kind of character that only time can create — high ceilings, thick walls that keep it cool in summer and warm in winter, and a lush garden that unfolds behind the house like a quiet surprise. Ten individually decorated ensuite rooms blend historical elegance with modern comfort — warm, peaceful, and designed for true rest.

Start your morning with a delicious breakfast on request — and end the day around the braai with people who also know how to relax. The spacious garden and private swimming pool create the perfect setting for a lazy afternoon in the sun, while the Langeberg mountains quietly watch over everything.

Elianthe has been under new ownership since 2026 and has been relaunched with a renewed commitment to what hospitality should truly be — personal, unhurried, and sincerely caring. Janet welcomes every guest with a warm heart and is always available with local recommendations to make your stay — both inside and outside the guest house — unforgettable.

Bontebok National Park is just minutes away. The Tradouw Pass offers a stunning mountain drive. And four of Swellendam’s best restaurants are only a short distance away.
