Secluded offline bliss! The cottage is set in a breathtaking Highveld grassland on a trout pond. There were a few zebras that could be seen grazing from the deck seating and plenty of bird species twittering about. There is a built-in braai on the deck and inside the cottage for cold winter evenings. Inside, the cottage was well equipped, but as other reviews noted, there is no electricity, only solar for basic lighting within the cottage and no plugs for charging devices. The gas fridge and freezer kept our perishables cold, and a gas stove can be used for cooking. If you know what to expect and plan accordingly, you'll manage just fine. The bathroom and bedrooms were clean, comfortable, and beautifully decorated. The seclusion and solitude offered by the cottage was absolutely divine, and we loved every second of our stay. Thank you!

Peaceful, relaxing and highly recommended to switch off and reset. We had a lovely stay at the cottage. Frik and Mathilda went out of their way to make us comfortable and have an enjoyable stay. The fishing is pricey but was good; however, the catch and keep policy was a small downer. It is worth noting that the cottage has no grid power; it functions exclusively on solar and gas only. This did make things challenging as we did not know this beforehand, and it's not mentioned on the site. One of our party (that thankfully could not make it at the last minute) uses an oxygen machine. Without power, this would have been a serious problem. Had we known about the lack of power, we would have brought some extra lights, means to charge devices, etc., and it would have been a 10/10 stay.
