Description
Hawksmoor House is a luxurious, Cape Dutch-style country retreat in the Cape Winelands. The guest house has been meticulously restored and beautifully decorated with exquisite antiques. Hawksmoor House is situated on a 200-hectare working farm, with access to the Stellenbosch, Paarl and Franschhoek wine routes.
Accommodation is offered in 14 en-suite guest rooms and a villa. The 4 historical accommodation buildings each offer a different perspective on the landscape and farm. The converted buildings have been furnished with a mix of beautiful antique pieces, and each room is individually decorated. The accommodation buildings are set around the historic reflection pond and expansive gardens.
There are 5 classic rooms with double doors leading onto private patios, offering views of the lush garden or adjacent farmland. The 2 luxury rooms offer garden views and the décor includes antiques and contemporary touches. The 7 superior rooms are large and spacious, and offer private terraces and underfloor heating throughout. Each room has an en-suite bathroom with a bath and shower and is equipped with tea- and coffee-making facilities.
The self-catering villa is situated in Edge House on the west side of the property. It is the ideal location for a family or group of friends in a tranquil farm setting. The villa comprises 2 en-suite bedrooms as well as an open-plan lounge, dining and kitchen area.
The grounds are laid out to include a large lawn, lavender beds, rose and herb gardens, and a swimming pool for those hot summer days. Hawksmoor House offers a sundowner patio; a wonderful spot to sip a glass of Hawksmoor Wine and enjoy the view. Hawksmoor Wines are made solely from grapes grown and harvested on the farm. The guest house offers wine tastings or a wine-tasting lunch, either in the historic dining room or on the lawn under the oak trees, in front of the Cape Dutch house. These tasting lunches are offered by prior arrangement only.
The quiet and serene estate is protected by a fence around the entire property, providing privacy and security. If you love dirt roads, sunsets, wine by candlelight, birds chirping outside your window, and don’t mind sharing the pool with the occasional disorientated frog, or hearing the contented sighs of a Pointer dog drowsing on the cool floor, then Hawksmoor House is the place for you.
