Pleasant, but neighbour noise issues. A lovely stay for the nature, the cleaning service, and the game drive. However, people are not considerate regarding noise levels, including the playing of loud music. Accommodation is close together, so noise is inevitable in the unit, but visitors can be more considerate towards others and the animals that always hope to see outside our door.

Relaxing. We always enjoy our stay at the lodge.

Great but lack of communication. It was great, close to the pools and restaurants, but the person who I was in contact with did not answer one of my questions.

Clean but run down. Poor customer service and instructions. The overall location was great and we enjoyed Mabalingwe as a whole. The customer service is severely lacking and we encountered a few problems during our stay that were not addressed properly by the host. On our first night, the toilet was leaking and I sent the host a WhatsApp, which she failed to respond to. The next morning, I tried calling two separate times and received a message that she would prefer a WhatsApp. I again sent a message informing her of the problem and asked that she send maintenance or at least someone to clean the water off the floor. A cleaner was sent and the cleaner informed us of the steps to secure cleaning services each day (the host failed to mention these steps). On Christmas Day, the two-plate stove, located outside, stopped working due to it getting wet from rainfall the previous evening. The unit next to ours, managed by the same person, experienced the same problem. Thus, we could not cook on Christmas Day. The host informed our neighbours that the stoves would be replaced the following day. The next afternoon, the host informed us that spare parts for the stoves could not be located and that they would send a replacement microwave stove combination appliance. The replacement was extremely dirty upon arrival and I informed our host of this. She made no effort to apologise for the dirty appliance, find us a suitable replacement, or even reply to the message and photos of the dirty appliance. On the last day, we received no instructions for check-out nor any follow-up on our experience or stay. The overall feel of this specific unit is clean but run down and it is clear that regular maintenance is not a priority. We enjoyed Mabalingwe as a game reserve but will never be booking with this specific host or unit again.
