Description
Welcome to Nukakamma Guest House situated in the small village of Colchester in the heart of the Sundays River Valley, only 36km from Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth). The property borders on the Addo Elephant National Park with just the game fence separating the properties. The Guest House offers lovely views of the plateau’s ridge inside the park, and you may even spot some game from our upstairs wooden decks while sipping on sundowners.
Whether you are looking to get closer to nature or just looking for a tranquil getaway while still being close to a major city, Nukakamma Guest House and Self-Catering Apartments is for you.
Comfortable accommodation is offered in 3 guest rooms and a self-catering cottage. Each guest room has an en-suite bathroom and tea- and coffee-making facilities. Breakfast is served for all guests staying in the guest rooms, while the self-catering cottage is equipped with the household amenities necessary to make your stay as comfortable as possible. There are LED lighting, solar geysers, and gas hobs.
Your host Vicky will ensure your stay is enjoyable and relaxing with the superior African hospitality that Nukakamma Guest House is renowned for. Vicky is an accomplished cook in the kitchen and offers traditional South African dinners to both Guest House and Self-Catering guests on request. Guests can enquire directly with the Guest House regarding our daily menu, guided game drives into the park, cruises on the Sunday River or any other special requests.
The surrounding areas offer an abundance of wildlife, a vast variety of vegetation, and a rich cultural heritage. The name Nukakamma is the name given to the Sundays River by the Indigenous Xhosa people, meaning 'grassy waters'. The name refers to the banks of the river that are always green, despite the arid terrain it runs through.
