Hobbiton Cottage @ Rivendell Trout Estate is a charming self-catering cottage nestled amongst other units, situated on the banks of the fast-flowing Spekboom River, which is regularly stocked with rainbow trout within the Rivendell Trout Estate. This estate is part of the Mount Anderson Water Catchment Reserve, a vast conservancy that spans thousands of hectares. The reserve is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including kudu, bushbuck, duiker, bush pigs, and baboons, which roam freely throughout the area. Visitors can often observe these animals grazing peacefully while they enjoy fly fishing for trout.
The cottage can accommodate 8 guests and comprises 4 tastefully furnished en-suite bedrooms. The main and second bedrooms are each furnished with a queen-size bed, while the third and fourth bedrooms are each furnished with 2 single beds. The en-suite bathrooms are fitted with a bath and shower. Linen and towels are provided.
The kitchen is equipped with a fridge-freezer, gas stove, oven, microwave, cutlery, crockery, and tea- and coffee-making facilities. In a separate scullery, is a dishwasher for guests’ convenience. It features a lovely dining space and further opens to the lounge furnished with comfy couches and a cosy fireplace.
Outside is a comfortable deck with both a wood fire and gas braai facilities, overlooking trout pools in the river.
This property is situated en route to the Kruger National Park and is centrally located for day visits to destinations such as Dullstroom, Bourke's Luck Potholes, Sudwala Caves, and Pilgrim's Rest.
