Felt like home, at peace. Our stay at TUFCAT Sanctuary. We are currently staying at the Stone Cottage at TUFCAT Sanctuary in Grabouw, and it has been such a special experience. The sanctuary has cats that can be adopted, from tiny kittens to older cats. Each one has their own personality — from feral cats learning to trust people, to clingy cuddle cats and the most lovable purr machines. There are cats of all shapes, colours, and fur types: long, medium, and short-haired. One really special thing about the sanctuary is that volunteers can come and live here and help care for the animals instead of paying traditional rent. It creates a beautiful community of people who genuinely love animals and want to make a difference. The people who work here are absolutely amazing and clearly love the cats deeply. They put their whole hearts into caring for them. Joline is always looking after the babies and reminds me a bit of Ace Ventura with how dedicated she is to the animals. Yolandi, one of the volunteers, was incredibly kind — she showed me around and even let me help a little. Sharon, the owner, does a wonderful job managing everything. She is a professor at the university in the area and somehow still manages to run the sanctuary, welcome guests staying at the cottage, coordinate volunteers, and support the staff with kindness and generosity. She truly cares about the people and the animals. Joline helps care for all the cats — from sick cats to babies, elderly cats, feral cats, and new arrivals — as well as the cats who live outside and her own special favourites. The level of dedication and compassion here is really inspiring. Everything at the sanctuary has been built by the people who work and volunteer here. They have created the most beautiful little cat houses all around the property for the free-roaming cats, giving them safe, comfortable places to sleep and relax. The Stone Cottage is located right on the sanctuary grounds, so the animals come and visit you. There are seven regular visitors who love to stop by: Elsa – a big cuddly lady. Snowy – our older girl who seems to have the best “conversations”. Priscilla – the princess, look but don’t touch. Tommie – my little man-eater who follows my boyfriend everywhere. Gizelle – partially sighted but purrs louder than a tractor. And shy little Annie – a Yorkie who dances around you. Yes, there are even dogs here too! The sanctuary also offers cat boarding, which is wonderful for people who want a safe and loving place for their cats while they are away. If you love animals, this place is truly something special.

Recommendation is to change gas shower to solar or electric. Great relaxing farm stay, peaceful, value for money, good central location to Overberg region.

The perfect budget getaway for animal lovers. A truly unique and tranquil experience, the perfect getaway for animal lovers. We can't seem to stay away; visiting once a month has become the norm. Budget friendly (guys, you're paying less than a family dinner at a local restaurant - don't expect 5-star accommodation. You're not even getting a stay at your local backpackers for less.) A rare opportunity to stay amongst a bunch of friendly felines, some guaranteed to visit and make your stay that much more purrfect. Recharge around the indoor fireplace or make use of the outdoor fire pit. Family friendly - the nephew loves it.

Cute cottage in the woods with cats attached. We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 days at Stone Cottage. We loved having the cats with us all the time, in bed, by the fire and on the veranda. The cottage is generally very well equipped; just the kitchen is extremely small with very little work space.

Awesome. We lost our little furry friend of 19 years a few months back. And it really was an awesome experience spending time with all the cats. We also had a few sleeping partners every night. Will definitely visit again. Thoroughly enjoyed it!

Charming, rustic stay. Great little cottage for a few nights away. Don't expect any mod cons as there aren't any, but that's the charm of this place so you can relax by the roaring indoor fire, or sitting on the stoop. It's in a cat sanctuary and they do love to come and say hello, so get your tummy tickle hands at the ready. Great location to explore Elgin Valley, and highly recommend. Will be back!

Nice getaway. Very nice for someone who wants to get away for a day or two and enjoy nature and silence. Had a cute guest who slept next to me while I caught up on some work.

Lekker wegbreek. Baie lekker vir iemand wie 'n dag of twee wil wegbreek en die natuur en stilte geniet. Oulike kuiergas gehad wat langs my geslaap het terwyl ek bietjie werk ingehaal het.

Fridge has a water dispenser with bottled water. Water in this area has a brown colour due to tannins. Perfectly fine to drink. Please check your facts before you comment. The water is not dirty. It is normal for this area. Google it.
