Description

Swallows Nest Chalet offers comfortable accommodation in a private self-catering chalet overlooking the Bell River Valley, situated on Grace Hill Farm, just 4 kilometres outside Rhodes Village. The chalet is situated on a hillside and offers views of the Southern Drakensberg mountains with alpine flowers in the summer and snow in the winter months.

The open-plan chalet consists of a double bed, an en-suite bathroom with a shower, a lounge, a dining area, and a kitchenette. There is a fireplace in the chalet. The kitchenette is equipped with a fridge, a microwave, a gas stove, and a kettle to boil water on the gas stove. The wooden deck is equipped with braai facilities, furniture and offers lovely views. Secure undercover parking is provided and the chalet is supplied with fresh spring water from the mountain. There are stairs with a rail leading to the chalet from the parking.

The Naude's Nek Pass road passes the chalet and leads to the highest navigable pass in South Africa contouring all along the Bell River, which is home to wild trout and yellow fish. The area offers hiking, mountain biking, 4x4 routes, rock art, birding, fly fishing, and horse riding. Grace Hill Farm is a working farm with livestock and pets, including peacocks.

The steps were quite difficult to climb. The outdoor furniture needs maintenance. Very nice. My husband was not successful in catching trout.
