Good place to rest and recharge your batteries. Stunning property on the banks of the Breede River, tranquil and peaceful. The house is well equipped with all necessary essentials, and the indoor fireplace was great in the colder weather. The hot tub also heated up very quickly.

See above - nothing more to add. My wife and I spent four enjoyable days at the Cob cottage towards the end of May 2025. The lodge is set in a beautiful location with a magnificent view over the Breede River. It is quite spacious and was clean on our arrival. It has a wonderful ambience but is not the type of accommodation where one should expect a full range of complimentary toiletries, plush carpets and stylish, modern furniture. Nevertheless, the kitchen was well stocked with utensils, soap bottles were provided in the bathrooms, and the beds were comfortable. Some maintenance is required to the oven and the plumbing in one of the bathrooms, which we reported to the staff on site when we departed. The staircase to the bedrooms upstairs is rather narrow, with curved steps. There is a handrail but even so we had to take great care going up and coming down. Staff assisted us with carrying our luggage upstairs when we arrived. Cob cottage does not have a dedicated parking area for vehicles, but fortunately we could park our car at another cottage nearby which was vacant. If all the cottages are occupied, Cob guests need to park some distance away next to a fence. Access to Tides River Lodge could be challenging for cars with low ground clearance, especially those fitted with low profile tyres. A 4x4 is not required, but the access road to the property is quite lumpy, strewn with lots of stones and small rocks. We rate the Cob cottage 3 stars and the setting 5 stars, giving a 4 star average. We received a pensioners’ discount and considered our stay good value for money all in all.

A quiet and peaceful stay. The last end of the access road to the lodge is difficult and tricky for a normal passenger car.

Great views in nature. We had an amazing time at the spectacular Cob cottage with family. Stunning views of the river. The stars at night are a sight to be seen.

Awesome long weekend. Everything was just perfect. It was probably one of our better experiences. So much to do - we walked to the new shop every day, which is just fabulous. We supped, we paddled in the canoes, we ate and drank in the lapa. Loved our accommodation, which was clean and had everything we needed. The service was excellent - he made our stay.
