Classy luxurious units on a gorgeous property.

Our stay was lovely. It was an ideal breakaway in a beautiful luxury unit, fully equipped with modern conveniences, even a generator for load shedding, situated on a beautiful property. Beds were comfy, the linen was of excellent quality, and it's the perfect location to recharge and relax.

Brilliant views and tranquility in a spacious house.

The house is situated on a beautiful setting with undisturbed views of the dams. So peaceful and quiet with beautiful bird species. The reception and customer service were outstanding, and the unit was cleaned every day. Nothing was too much to ask from the staff.

Location is reasonably well-maintained and neat but the rest is not.

Accommodation is small and cramped, although was neat and clean. There is no management available or visible and no management office. There was no staff to be seen except the lady at the reception, who was useless. The underfloor heating was switched on, but was not working. This was reported telephonically, as the office was closed on Monday 19th. We were told the "technician" would be told to come and check it. When we left on 23rd, nobody had been to "check it". There was also a problem with the DSTV not working. We were told to unplug a few cables and then re-insert. Nobody was sent to check why there was a problem (as other well-managed resorts do). Up until we left we did not see any management staff or maintenance staff. When we booked out, we told the lady in the office about the underfloor heating problem and that we had reported it and that the technician was supposed to check it, she did not know about it. Surely if a technician was to come from town (a guess) surely the reception should have been informed to expect him/her so that they could be directed and shown accordingly. Obviously, there is no communication at all. There are 10 dams advertised, stocked for trophy fishing. There are not 10 dams. At least we could not find them. The dams that are there (3) are pathetic, in not being totally accessible as they are fenced off. There are overhead power lines running across the one dam, that is a dangerous situation. There are also no warning signs up regarding the dangers of the power lines and fishing. We were told that the dams had been "stocked". This was not evident as no fish were evident. The fact that 10 dams well-stocked for trophy fishing (advertised, even at the entrance board at the turnoff) is not true and is false advertising. When checking in you are told to pay for the fishing, which was not advised ahead of time. In the chalet there is a small amount of wood for the fireplace and one small firelighter. Bearing in mind the cold area that the accommodation is located in, that small amount of wood would not last an hour. You are then obliged to purchase a smaller bag of wood from the reception at R40-00 per bag. Being such a small bag you have to purchase a number of bags to last through your stay for nightly use, as well as firelighters. The wood is wattle which does not burn long. Being a distance from town, the prices charged are a rip-off for a small amount. There are no instructions on the use of the coffee machine in order to use the "pods". To buy extra pods at R15-00 per pod is outrageous. The wifi worked at times but was unreliable. As such, definitely not what was expected, not worth the 4 star rating on the entrance gate and we will not be back, and will advise our friends accordingly.

Dear Selwyn,

Thank you for your review and we appreciate all your feedback. Our studio units are on the smaller side however if you would prefer a more spacious unit then I would recommend booking our Superior Studio or our 1 Bedroom chalet. We apologise for the inconvenience of the underfloor heating not working. We did provide an oil heater to assist with heating to allow any visitors that do not wish to use the fireplace to have alternate heating in the unit.

Our technician for underfloor heating is based in Howick and is extremely busy in the winter months and can sometimes take up to two weeks to come through. But we always ask them to try to come as soon as possible. We do apologise for the inconvenience this may have caused.

We stock the 3 main dams at the resort 2 or 3 times a year and have stocked on the 14th of June 2023. The dam is definitely full and ready for all fishermen. We are sorry you didn't have any luck during your stay but hope you have more success on your next visit.

Reception is available daily between 09:00 to 16:30 for any assistance and management is only a call away if you need to get someone to show you how to operate any equipment in the unit.

We do hope that you will reconsider coming to visit again and try one of our larger units. These also have better views and are a lot more spacious.

3 Night stay over Christmas.

Our family had a wonderful time, away from the daily rush. Peaceful and quiet. Debbie, the manager and Samke, the receptionist went out of their way to make our stay outstanding. Well done Debbie and Samke. We have already booked for Christmas 2020.

It was just amazing ─ beyond wildest dreams.

Beautiful place, with outstanding views and very well appointed chalets.

Debbie, the manager was an outstanding host, regularly checking up on us as we travelled from Pretoria and making us feel most welcome on our arrival.
