Description
Alte Kalköfen Lodge is situated between Keetmanshoop and Lüderitz and offers comfortable accommodation in a restored farmhouse surrounded by a beautiful Namibian desert garden. The lodge combines rustic charm with peaceful views over the Gurib riverbed and the vast desert landscape.
Accommodation options include bed and breakfast rooms, self-catering units, and campsites. Each room is tastefully furnished and features an en-suite bathroom with indoor and outdoor showers, as well as a private terrace overlooking the desert riverbed. Guests can watch oryx and springbok visit the floodlit waterhole at dusk.
The property offers 3 campsites within easy reach of the main lodge. Each campsite accommodates up to 6 guests and has its own ablution block with a shower, basin, toilet, and outdoor washing troughs. The ablutions are solar-powered, with hot water supplied by a donkey boiler. There is no electricity at the campsites. Campers have access to the lodge’s restaurant, swimming pool, braai facilities, and the well-known Cole Lithoparium desert plant collection. Breakfast and dinner are available on request, and dinner should be booked at least 1 day in advance.
The lodge can accommodate up to 24 guests and is ideal for weddings, functions, and honeymoon stays. Its location is well-suited for visiting popular attractions in southern Namibia and makes a convenient stopover en route to Sossusvlei or Kgalagadi National Park.
