Description

Faraway Cottage at Simonskloof Mountain Retreat is situated 50 km west of Montagu and offers an off-grid stay in a tranquil natural setting. The property is located in the ecotone of the Succulent Karoo and Mountain Fynbos and is ideal for guests seeking a peaceful break surrounded by nature.

The cottage accommodates 4 guests in 2 bedrooms. The main bedroom is furnished with a queen-size bed, and the second bedroom has 2 single beds. The cottage is fully off the grid. The bathroom is fitted with a solar-heated shower with a gas backup. The kitchenette is equipped with a fridge, a 2-plate gas hob, and basic self-catering facilities. The unit includes an indoor fireplace, an outside firepit braai, and a bathtub positioned outdoors. A hammock is available on the veranda, overlooking the surrounding fynbos. Parking is available next to the cottage.

On-site activities include short hiking routes, rock climbing, and swimming in the farm dam or nearby rock pools. Guided activities such as canyoning, wilderness trekking, and abseiling are available. The retreat has a network of more than 50 km of hiking trails, including the well-known Gecko Trail.

Please note that there is no electric power point at the cottage. In the event of an emergency, charging may be possible through a small solar system.
