Description

Somabula Nature Reserve – Outspan Ox Wagon Camp is located on a game farm between Rayton and Cullinan, less than an hour’s drive from Pretoria and Johannesburg. It offers accommodation for up to eight guests seeking a peaceful getaway.

The camp features four charming ox wagons, each furnished with a double bed, a light, and a blanket, offering a nostalgic experience. The well-equipped communal lapa includes a shared kitchen with laundry facilities, basic crockery, cutlery, pots, pans, and a fridge-freezer. There is also a two-plate gas stove, a lounge area, and a dining table with chairs for eight. Guests can use the nearby braai area, and clean ablution facilities behind the lapa include a shower, toilet, and basin.

Guests will encounter a wide variety of wildlife, including giraffes, elands, blue wildebeest, nyalas, zebras, red hartebeest, blesbucks, and more, all roaming freely in the area. During their bush-style getaway, they will be greeted by birdsong and the distant calls of jackals at dusk.

Hiking trails, a 4x4 route, and mountain biking trails are available. Guests are welcome to bring binoculars, hiking shoes, bikes, cameras, bird guides, a braai grid, and fire starters. This is truly the perfect retreat for relaxing, connecting, spending quality time together, and enjoying nature.
