House Rules

Please note that this is a working farm. If staying during the week, guests may encounter one or two farm workers, namely Hennie and/or Vernon, who carry out the daily farming activities and maintenance of the property. Guests are kindly requested not to interfere with their work or use any farm equipment.

The farm operates entirely on solar power, consisting of 12 solar panels, a 5 kW inverter, and 3 batteries. Guests are asked to use electricity responsibly, particularly after sunset. The system performs well under sunny conditions, but during extended periods of cloudy weather the batteries may not fully recharge. The battery indicator displays the remaining charge as follows: 4 green lights indicate 100%, 3 green lights indicate 75%, and so on.

The geyser operates on a timer and is set to heat water daily between 12:00 PM and 15:00 PM. This helps ensure hot water availability while reducing the load on the solar system.

Where possible, guests are encouraged to take glass bottles home for recycling. All other refuse can be placed in black refuse bags and left outside the cottage near the parking area for collection.

Guests are kindly requested to take care when using the indoor fireplace and outdoor braai. Fires should never be left unattended, particularly overnight.

When leaving the cottage for a walk, run, cycle, hike, or drive, please ensure that all windows and doors are properly closed and locked. Baboons are known to visit the valley from time to time, and these precautions help protect both guests' belongings and the property.

There are permanent tenants residing in the main farmhouse. Guests are kindly requested to respect their privacy and avoid walking close to the main house.
