Description

Winterhoek Farm Accommodation is a self-catering farmhouse situated on a working fruit farm approximately 14 km north of Tulbagh town, tucked under the majestic Winterhoek mountains. As the original Winterhoek farm, established in the early 1700s, it offers a stay steeped in history. Guests can enjoy a peaceful atmosphere in a natural garden with stunning ancient oak , wild olive trees and breathtaking views of the surrounding Winterhoek Mountains . The farmhouse which my father built due to the original home being destroyed during the 1969 earth quake provides basic accommodation, featuring vintage baths, a kitchen, bedrooms ,living area preserved in the style of the 1970s.

Please note we are renovating slowly so expect a few cracks here and there, nothing bling. Important it's functional ,basic and clean.

Accommodation comprises 3 bedrooms, suited to accommodate up to 6 guests. The first bedroom features one double bed, the second bedroom features two three quarter beds, and the third bedroom features 1 double bed. Other in-room facilities include 2 bathrooms, 1 fitted with a bath and shower, and the other with on suite bath. This unit also comes equipped with a inside fireplace and a kitchenette fitted with two fridges, , microwave, toaster, kettle, stove, air fryer, snackwitch washing machine, cutlery(Kitchen basics )

On-site facilities include a braai area and secure parking.Farm road hiking, dam swimming at own risk, fishing ,birding, breath taking views while wondering around. Bring own wood and fire lighters. Tulbagh town well stocked for basics.

Tulbagh is renowned for the September 1969 earthquake. Visit historical sites and take a stroll through the heritage preserved Church Street with all its different style Cape Dutch gables and restaurants.

Cyclists can explore three different mountain ranges within a single valley. Among the highlights is the famous "Bone Trail" on the foothills of the Witzenberg Mountains, followed by routes through the majestic Winterhoek Mountains. Stop at Saronsberg wine estate or cycle from Winterhoek on the famous central Valley route, follow signage. About a 1,5-2 hour cycle.Visit Wateval natural pools and beautiful hikes, park and Water resort .The Valley is also home to top-class wine estates, including the historic Twee Jonge Gezellen, known for its Cap Classique, Saronsberg,Rhyks Cellar,Manleys, Mont Pellier. Quality restaurants in town and wine estates, although the best restaurant is braaing or dining on Winterhoek veranda. Ho hoo to owls they talk back. ote this is a working farm hence you stay and enjoy the farm at own risk. It's a high risk fire region, fires only allowed in designated areas, on main house veranda or inside fire place, under supervision . No fires or cigarettes on farm allowed.

Beautiful location. We loved the solitude and the freedom for kids to ride their bikes and explore the farm.
