"Wat 'n pragtige wegbreek-dorp! Soortgelyke dorpies het al hopeloos te gekommersialiseerd geraak, maar Wakkerstroom bied die beste van 'n lieflike plattelandse dorpie, met vriendelike mense, baie geskiedenis, pragtige natuurskoon (die mooiste sonsondergange), oulike winkeltjies en baie lekker eetplekke! Wat 'n juweel. Ons het die strate plat gestap en om elke hoek iets nuuts ontdek. Wakkerstroom het ons harte gesteel!"

"A beautiful country village situated in a verdant valley. Felt safe at all times when taking walks, visiting the Anglo-Boer war cemetery and tramping around the veld. A good choice of restaurants, coffee shops and pubs. Residents friendly. Plenty of bird life. A wonderful place to unwind."
"Apparently most of the town shops are only open over the weekends, there were a few restaurants open, but most shops were closed. But we didn't go for the shops. we went for birds and that was great. Boardwalks and paths well sign posted."
