Alkmaar Farmstay is situated in the heart of the Lowveld in the Schagen Valley on the Maputo Corridor, a 10-minute drive from Mbombela (Nelspruit), the capital of Mpumalanga. It is within close proximity of the Kruger National Park. It is also perfectly located for exploring the Lowveld tourist attractions like Blyde River Canyon, Pilgrim's Rest and Sudwala Caves.
The accommodation on offer includes a variety of 2-sleeper guest rooms, a honeymoon cottage, and 3 campsites that can accommodate 12 guests in 3 tents at each campsite. Each of the rooms comprise a double bed and an en-suite bathroom with either a bath or a shower. Each tent comprises a double bed, 2 single beds, and a bathroom with a bath or a shower. Guests have access to a communal kitchen and braai facilities. The honeymoon cottage comprises a king-size bed and 2 bathrooms, one with a bath and one with a shower, as well as a sitting area, a fully equipped kitchen and a verandah with a fireplace.
Alkmaar Farmstay is a birdwatcher's paradise with nesting white-fronted bee-eaters, resident paradise flycatchers and long-crested eagles being seen regularly. Hiking, bass fishing and kayaking are available as well as a scenic 4x4 route. It is also the ideal stopover en-route to Mozambique.
