Description
Copperleigh Trout Lodge is a charming self-catering home set on Copperleigh Farm in the upper Dargle area, part of the renowned Midlands Meander. Overlooking the 10-hectare Mavela Dam, stocked with trout, this peaceful retreat is perfect for guests seeking relaxation in a scenic countryside setting.
This double-storey house accommodates up to 6 adults and 3 children and comprises 3 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. The main bedroom features a queen-size bed and a child-only single bed, along with an en-suite bathroom fitted with a shower. The second bedroom also has a queen-size bed, while the loft-style third bedroom includes a queen-size bed and a child-only bunk bed. A second bathroom with a shower, basin, and toilet is available, along with a guest toilet downstairs. Linen and bath sheets are provided, but guests are asked to bring their own swimming towels.
The kitchen is fully equipped with a fridge-freezer, electric stove with gas hobs, oven, cutlery, crockery, and tea- and coffee-making facilities. The open-plan living area offers a comfortable couch, a Smart TV with Netflix and Amazon Prime, a fireplace, and a dining table. Free Wi-Fi is also available.
Guests can relax on the covered patio with outdoor seating and braai (barbecue) facilities, while secure parking is provided on-site. Each unit includes a kayak with paddles and limited life jackets, and guests are welcome to bring their own for convenience. Additional outdoor features include a fire pit and a wood-fired hot tub (available at an extra cost). Firewood and braai essentials can be purchased on the farm, and a standby generator ensures power during outages.
The lodge is located approximately 30 km from Howick, where guests can explore shops and restaurants or discover nearby attractions such as the Nelson Mandela Capture Site, the impressive Howick Falls, and the adventurous Karkloof Canopy Tours. For a memorable day trip, the iconic Sani Pass—leading into Lesotho—is just a couple of hours away.
