Description
Shikwari Nature Reserve is located on the reserve near Kruger Park and The Panorama Route.
Accommodation at Shikwari Nature Reserve consists of 2 camps comprising 6 thatched-roof suites which are 4 Star graded and 4 Pangolin Rondavels
The 6 luxury Shikwari Suites are tucked into the natural bush, with private bathrooms with outdoor showers, a small patio and decorated with stylish furniture. Each suite contains a mini-bar fridge stocked on request, fresh ground coffee, a French coffee press, a choice of quality teas, and homemade cookies are provided. The main camp offers a fully licensed bar with a TV lounge with full DStv premium channels. Free Wi-Fi is available at the Shikwari Suites' main lounge and verandah area. Guests can relax on the shady lodge verandah and cool off in the swimming pool with a fantastic view. Breakfast and dinner are served al fresco on the veranda or deck boma. There are no self-catering options at this camp.
The 4 Pangolin Rondavels are not graded by TGCSA but offer a comfortable budget option; this camp is approximately 500 m from the main lodge. All meals booked with this camp are taken at Shikwari Suite. The 4 traditional thatched rondavels comprise 2 rondavels, with a bush bathroom that includes an outdoor shower, covered toilet and basin, plus 2 rondavels that share a separate bathroom and an outdoor shower. All bedding and towels are provided. All rondavels have ceiling fans, a wardrobe, seating, and tea and coffee-making facilities. It is possible to self-cater the evening meal as a braai.
The kitchenette only has a wash-up area and a gas hob with an electric oven. A boma is available for braais and offers a large braai area and 2 large grids. Both camps have a swimming pool.
The reserve has free-roaming giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, kudus, impalas, nyalas, bushbuck, duikers, steenbok and ostriches, as well as a variety of bird species.
Guided game walks and trips to the Kruger National Park with a guide can be arranged. The reserve is close to many other activities, including quad biking and Jessica Hippo, The Panorama Route and the Graskop Gorge Lift, and the Blyde Boat Trip.
