The best guesthouse in the Lowveld. Our stay was, in a word, idyllic. When I was a kid visiting my cousins in White River, I always said I'd stay here when I grew up, and here we are! This is my second time staying at Silver Mist, and I honestly wouldn't stay anywhere else when visiting the area. The scenery surrounding is the best in Mpumalanga, and the service is incredible. Honestly, the food is top notch (I always get the oxtail at least once per trip), and the people are so friendly and accommodating. You can really ask the ladies at reception for anything, from a late turndown to helping you find things to do; they're always so helpful (and so kind). You're never made to feel as if you're imposing; they go above and beyond for you. Besides all this, the amenities are also excellent; WiFi is as good as you can get up in the mountains, bedding is clean and comfortable, rooms are spacious, water's always hot, night or day, and all of this independent of the local municipality!

Rustic experience typical of Kaapsehoop. Fan didn't work, replacement unit never arrived. Toilet flush mechanism was corroded and snapped, but we just removed the cistern lid and flushed manually. Beds were clean and comfortable, the room was spacious and staff were friendly. So a mixed bag.

See above. Initial booking in was a bit concerning. Bathroom tap was broken. Plastic coffee cups and wine glasses are not cool. TV should work.
