Description
St Lucia Wilds is located on one of the oldest properties in town along the lakeside with no view, on the main street and away from the town buzz. It is still within walking distance of shops and restaurants. Wildlife flourishes and roams freely as the property is situated within the iSimangaliso Wetland Park World Heritage Site. The informal, well-kept rustic garden provides a tranquil setting for wildlife and visitors.
The flatlet offers affordable self-catering holiday accommodation. The building is divided into 3 separate spaces, each with its own entrance and no shared rooms or facilities. The century-old house is situated on the owner’s property, is elevated, and retains some original fittings and fixtures. Large windows allow natural light and the surrounding nature to be experienced. Insect netting is fitted to all opening windows and the door to keep insects out while allowing fresh air circulation. Access to the unit is via 6 steps leading to the only entrance.
The flatlet can accommodate a family of 4 or a maximum of 2 adults and 2 children. It is not suitable for 4 adults or 2 couples. The unit comprises 1 large bedroom, 1 bathroom, and an open-plan kitchenette, dining and living area. The bedroom is furnished with a standard double bed, 2 single stack beds, a large closet, a ceiling fan, a safe, and a hand basin.
The lounge area outside the bedroom includes a couch that converts into 2 single beds. The dining area has a 4-seater round table with chairs and a ceiling fan. The kitchenette is equipped for self-catering with a gas stove and oven, a microwave, a toaster, a gas kettle, crockery, cutlery, and cooking utensils. The bathroom is fitted with a curtained shower, toilet, and basin.
The lounge and dining area offer a partial view of the swimming pool and garden. A communal pathway to the garden and pool is located on the kitchen side. Outside the steps is a small drying line area with side panels. On-site facilities include a braai area a few metres away in the bush, an undercover parking bay, and complimentary Wi-Fi. No television is available. The Gallery St Lucia is located on site, where guests can join painting projects or enjoy a beverage and a sweet treat.
Nearby activities include bird watching and walking trails. Ferry boat trips on the lake are available from the jetty located 500 m from the property.
