Just 7 km from Beaufort West, Steenbokkie Private Nature Reserve offers a 7,000-hectare working game and hospitality farm set within the vast landscapes of the Karoo and framed by the Nuweveld Mountains. Designed as more than just accommodation, the reserve provides a setting focused on space, freedom, and authentic farm living, ideal for family gatherings, group getaways, or peaceful stopovers.
The reserve can accommodate up to 50 guests across a variety of options, including guest rooms, self-catering cottages, a large farmhouse, and camping facilities. Guest rooms are comfortably furnished with en-suite bathrooms, air-conditioning, selected DStv channels, electric blankets in winter, and tea- and coffee-making facilities, with access to communal kitchens and braai areas. The self-catering cottages each feature fully equipped kitchens, two air-conditioned en-suite bedrooms, lounge areas, and private braai facilities. Die Jaghuis farmhouse, located 1 km from reception, offers flexible accommodation for 4 to 12 guests across six bedrooms and four bathrooms, and can be used as a single unit or divided into two separate sections. The campsite accommodates up to 20 caravans on shaded lawns with electrical points and dedicated ablution facilities, while larger groups can be hosted in a marquee setup. Daily servicing is available for longer stays.
Guests can enjoy a range of outdoor activities, including hiking, cycling, and wildlife viewing along scenic routes of 5 km, 13 km, or 23 km. The reserve is home to a variety of wildlife such as giraffe, zebra, eland, springbok, wildebeest, and ostrich, as well as abundant birdlife. Children are encouraged to explore the outdoors, with opportunities for swimming, cycling, and interacting with farm animals, including sheep, goats, chickens, pigs, rabbits, and horses.
Facilities are designed to encourage relaxation and connection, with Wi-Fi intentionally limited to the reception area, while an on-site shop offers essentials, gifts, homemade treats, and preserves. Home-style meals, traditional braai packs, and breakfast parcels can be arranged. The property is pet-friendly by prior arrangement and also caters to overnight travellers with convenient self-check-in options.
