House Rules

1. Arrival & Neighbourhood

We ask all guests to please respect the neighbours, therefore please no hooting on arrival or departure. Please send a WhatsApp or call when at the gate and the host will open for you.

Always keep the driveway gate closed for safety and pets.
Please drive slowly as there are pets on the property.

2. Welcome Pack & Fire Pit

Tea, coffee, milk, sugar, and toilet paper are provided for the first night. Thereafter guests are requested to bring their own.

Fire starter kit with doringhout wood and blitz are provided free of charge for you.; extra wood/stumps may be purchased. Stumps only for fire pit use.

3. Water & Showers

We are experiencing severe water restrictions in De Rust. All guests are urged to use water sparingly. Unfortunately due to the situation, the Victorian bath is unavailable durimg this time. We trust you will enjoy a short shower instead. A plan will be made for families traveling with very young children.

Five litres of filtered drinking water per night are provided for you, from our water filter system; please bring additional as needed.

4. Pets

Up to 2 small/medium pets allowed by prior arrangement only; R150 per pet per stay (cash) is payable upon arrival.

Pets must stay behind the fence at all times. Pets may not be left alone, or locked up in The Cottage.
Pets are not allowed on beds/furniture. Dog bed and blanket will be provided for you.

Loose mats/rugs are removed during pet visits.

5. Pool Use

Communal pool shared with other guests and the Main House.

Pool open 8 am- 8 pm. Children must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times; unattended children may result in closure of the pool for the duration of your stay.

Pool gate must remain closed; shoes/flip-flops recommended. No running.
Pool towels are provided.

The pool cover is kept on to eliminate evaporation. Kindly let the host know should you wish to swim and they will open and close the cover with pleasure.

6. Cottage Furniture & Safety

The Cottage has handcrafted wooden furniture, made by the owner himself. Please use the cutting boards provided; no direct cutting, hot items, or liquids on wooden surfaces.

Indoor furniture stays inside please; outdoor furniture is for outdoors. The Cottage furniture (including camping chairs) or any item for that matter may not be removed from the property for personal use elsewhere. Any damages are payable by the guest to the host.

Please only use candles only in holders. Damage from misuse may incur charges.

7. Smoking

No smoking indoors; indoor smoking may result in extra cleaning fees.

8. Day Visitors & Parties

Day visitors require prior approval from management and may incur a fee.

No parties or events allowed. The main guest is responsible for visitors following the rules.

9. Electricity & Solar Power

Please use electricity sparingly; switch off lights and appliances when not in use.

High-load appliances, heaters, fans, and EV chargers are not permitted. A wall heater and 2 portable fans provided for your use.

10. Breakage deposit.

We do not require a breakage deposit, however any breakages or damages incurred are payable by the guest to the host.
