Not on par vs. previous bookings. Summary: Booked through the website, but the experience was not like previous bookings. We received WhatsApp messages on the booking, but I had to contact Gideon to find out where/how to collect the keys to the unit (was told to get it from security). Previously we had the host meeting us at the unit, explained everything, and then left. The unit itself had some upgrades (e.g. fridge/freezer), but the TV is not a smart TV (I believe the backlight of the TV is shot, as there is limited backlighting and contrast). I believe the TV should be replaced with a decent smart TV vs the current old TV with TX box. Upside is that they have Amazon Prime and DStv Stream available. The bathrooms are quite cramped and I do not think larger people will enjoy them. The unit has a nice new bath, with the floor lifted a bit (I believe to accommodate piping underneath), but there should be warnings of the small step-up into the bathrooms. Upside is that there are 2 shower heads in the shower for those young at heart wanting to share. Plus: The views over Table Bay and the mountain. Relatively quiet. New equipment (fridge/freezer), as well as a washing machine – a nice touch. Minus: Bathrooms are small and the TV needs to be replaced by a smart TV, with the TV remote cover loose. The chairs at the dining table are wobbly with 1 seat loose. One blind at the main window is stuck. The lounge suite, albeit looking good, does not provide firm seating – you actually sink quite low into it. Host never personally engaged with us.
