"A quaint little village, my main aim was the "Owl House" my husband did not want to accompany me there, but it was quite fine with me as it was needed to see it on my own. The local Pub "Boeties" was well frequented by us and it was lovely meeting Boetie and his sister. Loved our stay there and will be back. One BIG thing I must mention, the spring from the mountain that feeds the village was not to be found, it was one of the big attractions for me was to see the spring, but could not find it at all, a local young guy tried his best to show us but we did have any joy in reaching the spring. Big disappointment as the spring is also advertised."
"Lovely place to stay as always. The lovely family at the Outsiders Backpackers and B&B agreed to make us breakfast even though we were not staying with them."
"Nieu-Bethesda is 'n moet sien Karoo dorpie. Van die Uilhuis, Brouery en Fossil centre. Die kos daar rond is watertand lekker."

"What an amazing town. Plenty of restaurants to choose from. We went to see the owl house, did some beer and cheese tasting and enjoyed homemade pizza. This is a great town to use as an overnight stay, on your way to the Garden Route area. Note to new travelers to rather use the second road into the town when travelling from Colesberg. Further to travel, however way better as this a a tar road, the first road is a really bad gravel road - unless you enjoyed the humps and bumps. "

"Lovely quiet Karoo town. Beautiful route to get there. We found it strange that some of the shops or other places one could visit, close at 17:00 and only open after 08:00. One should think they should focus more on over-night guests - especially in the holiday season. Like all other small towns, it would be great if they could keep the empty yards clean. Realize that it is not in the hands of the residents in many cases, but maybe a plan could be made. The booklet we received on the town is very informative, but we were surprised that the local shop was not indicated on the map. The walking routes indicated on the map were seemingly not available though. Overall, once again, a lovely stay!"
"Really a hidden gem. Quirky little shops. Even an Honesty Shop where all the goods are on display and you take what you want and leave your money in a tea pot!"

"So interesting. Fossils, Owl House, Bushmen Centre. All great. Due to Covid not all the eating places were open, but there is always somewhere to buy food."
