Hi Emmerentia,
I am truly sorry about your experience with the monkeys.
However, monkey disturbances around food are a common occurrence in KwaZulu-Natal & its coastline.
This is particularly so when residences are located within large gardens, like the Santorini Estate.
As you will recall, I had warned you in my mail of the 28th of August before your departure about monkeys, as follows:
“Monkeys:
Be aware of the monkeys who are cute and funny, but at times a nuisance.
If they see food or fruits on the kitchen counter, given a chance they will slip into the apartment in a flash and run away with whatever food they can grab and, in the process, make a mess.
It is best to hide, cover or store your food in the fridge or cupboards when not in use, as well as closing the bedroom windows and sitting room sliding door when going out or to the beach.”
In closing, we should also recognise the privilege, as South Africans, to live so close to nature in our fantastic Southern African environment.
Apologies once again for the inconvenience.
Kind regards,
George
