Perfect for couples seeking a peaceful getaway, or for a small family with one or two children, the cottage offers a tranquil escape from city life while remaining close to everything the village has to offer.

Set within a lush, established garden, the cottage feels like a private sanctuary. Children are free to run, explore, and enjoy nature, while adults relax to the gentle sounds of birdsong. The garden is home to over 30 species of birds and a few resident tortoises, adding a special touch of magic for both young and old. Despite the calm setting, the cottage is centrally located just two streets away from Montagu’s main road and only a leisurely 7-minute walk downhill to restaurants, pubs, shops, and nearby hiking trails.

The accommodation consists of a charming one-bedroom cottage with a separate open-plan living and dining area. The bedroom features a comfortable queen-size bed and a single day bed, as well as a cosy Victorian fireplace—perfect for romantic evenings or cooler winter nights. The en-suite bathroom includes a shower and is conveniently laid out for comfort and privacy.

The open-plan lounge offers a relaxed and inviting space, with a double-size sofa bed, easy chair, and a small dining table with chairs. The fully equipped kitchen makes self-catering easy and enjoyable, featuring a full gas stove and oven, microwave, tabletop oven, and a full-size fridge with freezer.

For entertainment, the lounge includes a TV with Netflix and YouTube, and is wired for DStv should guests wish to bring their own decoder and smart card.

Outdoors, guests can enjoy two private patios—one with a portable braai for relaxed family meals, and another with a small table and chairs, ideal for morning coffee or an evening glass of wine. Secure off-street parking is provided in a lockable carport. Well-behaved pets are welcome by prior arrangement.

Abigail’s Garden Cottage is best suited to a couple, a small family of up to four, or single travellers seeking a quiet and nurturing space. It is not suitable for two couples sharing. A special rate is available for solo guests.
