Dombeya Private Game Reserve

Description

Dombeya takes its name from the African Wild Pear, Dombeya rotundifolia. The genus honours French botanist Joseph Dombey, while the species name refers to the tree’s round leaves. It is one of the first trees to flower in the Bushveld, signalling the arrival of spring.
The lodge is located in Vaalwater, a small town in the Limpopo Province of South Africa and the central village of the rugged Waterberg region, near the Mokolo River. The area forms part of the UNESCO-designated Waterberg Biosphere Reserve, known for its rich biodiversity, savanna landscapes, and numerous game farms and nature reserves, with opportunities to see the Big Five.

Dombeya Private Game Reserve's main lodge offers 2 elegant rooms with king-size beds, en-suite bathrooms, and air conditioning. The first room includes a shower, basin, and toilet. The second room features both a bath and shower, a basin and toilet, a fireplace, an outdoor balcony, and space for two additional single beds. 3 Private chalets complete the accommodation offering, each with air conditioning and an en-suite bathroom. Chalet one has 2 single beds with a shower, basin, and toilet. Chalets two and three offer king-size beds, a bath and shower, basin and toilet, a fireplace, and space for 2 extra single beds upon request.

Guests can choose between self-catering or fully catered stays. The kitchen is equipped with a fridge-freezer, gas hob, oven, microwave, cutlery, crockery, and tea- and coffee-making facilities. There is a spacious dining area where guests can enjoy their meals together, and the property has multiple lounges with comfy seating, a TV, and some also feature a cosy fireplace.

Dombeya Private Game Reserve was established in 2006 on untouched African land with no infrastructure, guided by a vision to create something unique. With the addition of a neighbouring farm in 2023, the reserve now spans over 1,200 hectares of diverse Waterberg landscape.
