Description
Shondoro Mountain Retreat is situated in Vaalwater on a 144-hectare bushveld farm in the malaria-free Waterberg Mountains. The property offers rustic stone-and-thatch cottages and private campsites, and is open for bookings from Sunday to Thursday, and on Friday until 17:00 for access to the wellness products store. Saturdays are unavailable for bookings.
The cottages include Reedbuck Cottage, which accommodates 4 guests in 2 bedrooms, and Klipspringer Cottage, which accommodates 2 guests. Both units include air-conditioning, en-suite bathrooms, and private braai bomas. The kitchens are fully equipped for self-catering. Linen, towels, and complimentary tea- and coffee-making facilities are provided.
Two private campsites are also available. Valley View (Spot One) offers a secluded camping space with an open-air bush shower. Mountain Dam Sunset View offers views of the dam and the surrounding mountains. Both campsites have no toilets or kitchen facilities and are suited to fully self-sufficient guests.
On-site facilities include a communal swimming pool overlooking the mountains, as well as several walking and mountain-biking trails suitable for various fitness levels. The retreat provides a peaceful environment with good birdwatching and tree spotting. The property is accessible to sedans, although a high-clearance vehicle such as an SUV is preferred.
