Hluleka Nature Reserve
Description
Hluleka Nature Reserve is situated between the towns of Port St Johns and Coffee Bay, and is about 90km away from Mthatha. This reserve is a wondrous paradise, with beautiful ocean views, and a tranquil atmosphere. It is filled with hundreds of little meandering paths and is home to animals such as blesbok, zebra and wildebeest - and along the beach you are likely to find the tracks of otters. The forest is filled with bird life and is home to sunbirds, canaries, herons and the colourful narina trogan - which are characterised by vivid green plumage.
Activities that are available within the Nature Reserve are hiking and fishing - though you do need a permit for fishing that can be obtained from the Nature Conservation Centre in Umtata. This reserve is managed by the Eastern Cape Parks and Tourism Board.
