"I have been many times. I have always enjoyed it especially SALT (day tour). Town is lacking places to eat. Seems like it has declined quite a bit over the years."

"Sutherland is a cold winter destination! Especially if you are used to differently insulated winter homes abroad. We did not time our trip in accordance with the moon and arrived there during a full moon. On the plus side, we managed to see and photograph the moon through the telescope. Do bear in mind that the moonlight lights the sky up considerably and the Milky Way becomes quite faint. We did enjoy our stay though and would definitely recommend the destination."
"Sutherland is a little unknown gem in the Northern Cape. It offers so much that you can't experience in a city. It was an awesome experience in winter (got to see snow), however, it must be amazing to explore it in summer. It makes for a great weekend getaway and definitely a place I will return to in summer."

"Ons was mal oor die dorpie en die Ou Meul restaurant se kos was heerlik en vars en die diens vreeslik flink en vriendelik. Wat ons wel teleurgestel het was die besoek aan die SALT sterrewag. Ons het vooraf daarvoor kaartjies gekoop en dit was die doel van die besoek aan Sutherland. Met ons aankoms daar, 30 minute voor die tyd, is ons meegedeel dat die vogtigheid in die lug te hoog is en dat die teleskoop nie oopgemaak gaan word nie en ons kaartjies terugbetaal sal word. Ek verstaan dat mens nie beheer het oor die natuur nie, maar ek het gevoel daar kon 'n alternatief voorgestel word, soos 'n buitelugsterrekyk bv. Ons is druipstert terug dorp toe, en daar het Jurg ons aand gered met 'n sterrekyk in die dorp deur kleiner teleskope. Hy het 'n fantastiese praatjie aangebied en is duidelik 'n kenner in sy veld. Ek sal sy sterretoere aanbeveel eender as die SALT teleurstelling."
"The stargazing from Jurg at Sterreland was extremely disappointing, it almost ruined our trip. After spending nearly an hour all we viewed was Venus which we can do with our home telescope. It was a complete ripoff. The viewing at the planetarium was absolutely the best. Jurg is trying to accommodate too many people."
"Daar is nie verskriklik baie om te doen nie. Jy kan sterrekyk by verskillende plekkies en nog sterrekyk. SALT se tye moet op meer plekke geadverteer word vir beter beplanning veral as mens ver verblyf het. Restaurante/koffiewinkels moet langer oop bly. Ons het plekkie 3/4 pm gesoek vir milkshake, als was toe."

"Wat ons wel gevind het is dat die dorpie Sutherland lyk of dit agteruit gaan wat die hoofstraat betref soos die winkels. Dit lyk of Covid die dorpie baie seergemaak het. Daar is nie juis baie aandenkings wat 'n mens kon koop van die plek nie en as ek iets wou koop was dit buitensporig duur."
