A worthy trip for some time out. Mountain View Cottage, where I arrived as one human and one dog and left as a slightly smug woodland hermit with excellent bath strategy. First things first: I travelled solo with my dog and felt completely safe. That said, the property isn’t fenced for furry escape artists, so if your pup believes they’re auditioning for *Into the Wild*, pack a lead… like “question your life choices while untangling it” long. This cottage is the Beyoncé of the property lineup: by far the most private, dramatically positioned with views that make you pause mid-sentence and forget what you were saying. Mountains, fields, peace… it’s giving main-character energy. Now, the mountain bath. Oh, the bath. Here’s the insider secret (you’re welcome): open only the hot tap and set a timer for about 25–30 minutes. You’ll end up with a gloriously full, perfectly hot bath that says “luxury retreat” rather than “accidental soup.” Then the water cools just enough to hit that Goldilocks zone. Bring a bath pillow unless you enjoy balancing your neck like a flamingo contemplating life. Morning people, rejoice. Night owls… bring an eye mask. The main room gets bright early thanks to curtains that are more “gentle suggestion” than blackout fortress. Everything else? Spot on. Clean, thoughtfully equipped, and Anita is an absolute legend. Need wood? She’s already three steps ahead of you. Messages? Replied to before you’ve finished typing, it feels like. And yes, there are security bars on the windows because baboons may pop by like uninvited but curious neighbours. Initially, you’ll think, “Hmm, aesthetic choice?” and then quickly realise they’re the unsung heroes of the whole operation. By day two, you’ll feel like they’re part of the charm… and also quite pleased there’s a polite barrier between you and a troop of highly intelligent snack thieves. All in all: peaceful, private, practical, and just the right amount of adventure. Would absolutely return, dog, bath timer, and all.

Amazing. We absolutely loved our stay. The accommodation is well equipped, and the natural surroundings are truly breathtaking. Our Cocker Spaniel thoroughly enjoyed exploring the area. We will definitely be back!

Wonderful family break. Wonderful place! The beautiful surroundings, hot tub, swimming pool and canoes were the highlights of our stay. The cottage afforded us plenty of privacy and comfort. All three kids (ranging in age from 6 to 14) and both parents had a fantastic time. The (homemade) rusks were a lovely touch.

Amazing with one big concern. I had a really nice break away, a beautiful location, room and surroundings are set up perfectly. The hot tub is also really amazing! But I have one concern, which leads me to the low rating. There is a camera pointing directly at the outdoor shower. What is the reason for this? It seems very unethical and nonsensical.

Best all round family getaway. If you’re looking for a place for the family and pets to go away, look no further. Best place I have been to where everyone can relax and enjoy. The fact that my dog could roam free was amazing. The chalets have everything you need.

Beautiful farm setting overlooking the valley on the foothills of the mountain. Fairfield Cottages is a perfect location for a small family getaway. The images on the website definitely do not do the house and specifically the area the justice it deserves. It's a beautiful setting.

Rustig, pragtig, goed vir die siel. Baie lekker! Die huisie is pragtig en alles werk. Dit was stil en rustig, presies waarna ons gesoek het.

Die verblyf het ons verwagtinge oortref. Als was perfek. Fairfield Cottages is 'n ware "hidden gem". Die plekkie was so netjies en goed ingerig, en die rotsbad 'n ekstra bonus. Ons het die rustigheid en natuur so geniet en was hartseer om huis toe te gaan. Die gasvrou was baie behulpsaam en vriendelik. Ons sal beslis weer kom, hopelik binnekort en dan vir langer bly.

Perfect for recharging with family in nature. We loved the location. We took our two dogs with us who had a blast swimming in the streams coming from the mountains. We went for walks on different routes every day and had the opportunity to just recharge in nature.
