Peaceful Karoo farm stay with exceptional stargazing and warm hospitality. Rooikloof Guest Farm is set in a truly magnificent location and is well worth the effort to get there. It’s hard to do justice to the beauty of the surrounding landscape. The night sky in particular is something special. The farm sits about 4 km outside Sutherland, overlooking the town, with a real sense of space and quiet. We stayed in Koesnaatjie Cottage 2, which is beautifully put together, very comfortable, and wonderfully private. Don’t be put off by the lack of electricity — the gas appliances and lanterns make it easy and comfortable to live, and it suits the setting perfectly. If that really is a deal breaker, some of the other accommodation on the farm does have electricity. Janine and Cara are excellent hosts and stayed in regular contact ahead of our visit, which made everything feel easy and well organised. There’s plenty of space for kids to explore and adventure safely on the farm, which adds to the appeal if you’re travelling as a family.

Lovely farm stay, would definitely recommend. Really lovely farm stay just a few minutes from Sutherland. Cara, our host, was warm, friendly and very helpful. The house has everything you need for a wonderful stay. Little bundles of kindling and firelighters were placed in the braais (BBQs) and fireplaces, which made it easier to light. Little touches like the large vase of freshly cut lavender and rosemary on the kitchen table were appreciated.

Heerlik, sal dit beslis aanbeveel. Ons het in Koesnaaitjie nr 1 gebly, pragtige volledig toegeruste cottage. Daar is tot opvoustoele en klein kombersies vir buite sit. Ons het so lekker gebly.

Aangenaam en baie rustig, geen buite invloed nie, rustig en aan te bevele. Baie heerlik met rustige atmosfeer en naby die dorpie vir nodige voordele en restaurante. As jy travel en krag nodig het, neem asb. 'n portable powerstation saam. Pad is gerieflik en begaanbaar.

What a pleasant surprise, a great well-maintained old farmhouse. We were able to spend the night at the Rooikloof Guesthouse. This was at the end of a three-week tour through the Eastern, Western, and Northern Cape, and truly a highlight! The place is beautifully maintained and very tastefully furnished. The old farmhouse design is beautifully complemented by correct and clearly carefully chosen furniture and decorations. The good stove, fridge, and dishwasher were a pleasant surprise, and we baked delicious scones in the oven. We tell our friends about this pleasant spot and will definitely come again.

Onprakties vir koue. Ek dink vir die somer is die plek fantasties. Ek sal wel aanraai dat meer details soos geen krag beter gespesifiseer word op Lekkslaap sodat 'n mens 'n beter besluit kan neem. Ons het net 1 aand van die 2 gebly weens die koue weer. Die huisie word ongelooflik koud deur die nag.

Rustig, stil, gasheer was baie hulpvaardig. Goeie styl. Fantastiese besoek. Gasvrou was wonderlik en baie behulpsaam met enige vrae. Dis 'n stylvolle en goed deurdenkte kothuis met alles wat mens nodig het.
