'n Wegbreek wat in 'n nagmerrie verander het. Ons hou al vir 3 jaar vakansie met ons honde en het nog nooit 'n probleem gehad tot met hierdie gasvrou nie. Vooraf het ons gereël en ekstra betaal vir ons honde en met aankoms kon ons sien die gasheer was ongemaklik met ons honde alhoewel hulle opgelei is. Ons het ook katte by die huis, so ons honde het groot geword met katte en ons het hulle verseker dat ons honde geen bedreiging vir hulle kat is nie. Die volgende oggend het ons honde 'exsplore' soos alle honde doen onder ons toesig en die volgende oomblik kom die gasvrou afgestorm op ons en begin my man van 'n kant af skel en uitrap sonder dat hy 'n woord kon inkry om ons honde onder beheer te kry en om hulle weg te vat; sy soek hulle nie daar nie. In al ons jare se verblyf was ons nog nooit so stom geslaan nie. Ek dink dit is die eerste keer wat ons self 'n negatiewe resensie ook plaas. Maar so iets was absoluut verstommend. Moet dan eerder nie 'n plek as 'pet friendly' adverteer as hulle glad nie eers honde daar soek nie. Verder het sy ons so ongelooflik onwelkom laat voel, dat die een tydjie wat ons gehad het om net bietjie weg te kom in 'n absolute naweek van hel verander het. Die plekkie lyk wel soos op die fotos, maar ek sal beslis dit nie aanbeveel aan mense wat graag hulle honde kinders wil saamneem nie.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry to hear that your stay did not meet your expectations. We would, however, like to clarify the circumstances that led to the concerns raised during your visit. Unfortunately, your Alsatians/German Shepherds, dogs, were found roaming unsupervised on the Main Road in Witsand and entering neighbouring properties, including our guesthouse. This caused considerable distress to other guests and their pets. Our priority is always the safety and comfort of all visitors, including children and animals. For this reason, we respectfully request that pets be securely contained within the enclosed yard of the holiday home or kept on a leash in public spaces. This helps prevent incidents and ensures an enjoyable and safe environment for everyone. We understand that every pet owner values and cares for their animals. At the same time, we must also consider the well-being of other guests and their pets. During this incident, one of our cats was noticeably frightened, which highlighted the seriousness of the situation. We do manage ten holiday homes in Witsand—many of which are pet-friendly—and we have welcomed hundreds of guests with pets without similar issues. Regrettably, due to the circumstances of this particular event, we have had to make the decision that Smitsand Holiday Home will no longer be pet-friendly going forward.

We had a lovely stay. We really enjoyed our stay and the house was lovely, however, I would recommend that the owner perhaps looks at purchasing new mattresses for the beds, especially the double bed. The mattress was very uncomfortable. I would also recommend that the bedding be updated.
