Baie netjies en rustig, 'n lekker wegbreekplek.

Die vriendelike klomp daar laat mens ook lekker lag, baie mooi omgewing.

A wonderful destination with lovely people, delicious food, comfortable accomodation and stunning scenery.

So glad I made this booking. The website does not do this venue justice! It is set in a most beautiful environment, with passionate people making it a home away from home with comfortable rooms, relaxing lounges with blazing fires and the most delicious home-cooked meals.

Fabulous drakensberg location in a quality establishment.

Lets start off with the great: Amazing location with the lesser berg literally at your doorstep. Magical panoramic views from the rooms and dining area. It’s an ideal travelling distance if you are coming from Durban and surrounds. An Ezemvelo reserve, a few km away from the lodge, is a panoramic drive to in itself and the hike trails there are fantastic (thanks to Barry for that suggestion). The lodge is well-appointed, with quality fittings/finishes; underfloor heating in the catered units are great (not so sure how much relief would be provided during the dead of winter without a heater/fireplace). Full marks to management for making the dining atmosphere warm, cosy and romantic. Barry is a super manager, unobtrusive yet attentive and his team do a great job. Now to the average: The dinner menu for vegetarians is passable, and although Tina put in a great effort it was not quite up our expectations in this type of establishment. Although the lodge is not responsible for this, the last few km on the Kamberg Road to the lodge are gravel roads not suited to normal sedans/hatchbacks, especially those with 17" or lower profile tyres (you will cry or crawl!). TravelGround's description of this as good gravel road only applies to bakkies and SUV's. And finally, the not-so-great: If you book through an outside agency, for eg, TravelGround, make sure to double-check the directions provided. Their directions got us travelling back and forth on Nottingham road because they were inaccurate, but a quick call to the ever-helpful Barry provided relief.

Brilliant stay, brilliant people.

What a great please, awesome location, great food but the best of all is the friendliness of all the staff, particularly the owners Allan and manager Barry. I will be back.
