House Rules

The driveway is shared with the tenants of the house attached to Bird Rock Cottage. They will not block access or park in a way that prevents guests from coming or going, as they have their own parking space to the right of the driveway near the gate. Guests are asked to park as close as possible to the garage door to allow adequate space for the tenants to access their own parking area.

Baboon-proofing measures.
Windows may be left open, as they are equipped with baboon-proofing measures.
Guests are asked to keep the front door and patio doors closed when on the upper floor or away from the cottage to prevent unwanted visitors from taking food.

Guests have access to unlimited high-speed fibre Wi-Fi with 50 Mbps download and 25 Mbps upload. The password will be provided.

The kitchen is well-equipped but does not include a conventional oven. Guests are welcome to bring an air fryer. Cooking is typically done on the induction stove or in the microwave. A gas burner is provided for use during power outages, which are now rare. Rechargeable lights are also available.

For stays longer than 5 nights, municipal waste is collected on Monday mornings. Please place black garbage bags in the green municipal bin near the gate before 07:00. Use the baboon deterrent clip to secure the bin. If the collection is missed, guests may use the disposal facility at the OK Supermarket on 7th Street. For shorter stays, please leave garbage in the kitchen bin.

For stays longer than 5 nights, weekly fresh towels and bedding can be arranged if desired. Guests should bring their own beach towels.

The patio garden provides a peaceful, green space for relaxation. A hammock, usually stored in the garage, can be hung between the pillar and the large tree. Green outdoor cushions for garden chairs are stored on the lower kitchen shelves; please bring them inside if rain is expected. The portable wheeled braai is usually kept in the garage and can be rolled out to the patio. Guests are asked to place the braai a safe distance from trees to avoid scorching leaves.

A washing machine is available in the garage. Please open the water supply tap by the wall before use and close it when finished. Sunny weather allows for drying laundry on the lines along the back wall of the cottage.

A diverse selection of books for all ages and tastes is available on the lower floor bookshelf and coffee table.

Guests preferring screen entertainment should bring their own devices and use the high-speed Wi-Fi for streaming services.

Standard fans are stored in the top wardrobe.

Please never leave a braai fire unattended. Ensure the fire is fully extinguished before sleeping. A fire extinguisher is available on the upper floor near the door for emergencies.

Smoking and vaping are permitted outdoors only, using the provided ashtray.

Guests are asked to respect neighbours and keep noise levels low between 21:00 and 07:00.

In consideration of neighbours and building infrastructure, guests are asked not to hold parties or invite more people than booked.

Although the hosts are animal lovers, no pets can be accommodated at the cottage. Please do not encourage neighbours’ cats to enter, as subsequent guests may have allergies.
