Amazing. Absolutely incredible. We love staying at Gem in the Bush and it is where we stay every time we go through Hoedspruit. The breakfast in the morning is delicious and the staff are very friendly!

Very nice. Would book it again. Very short, but we really enjoyed it. Breakfast was very good and the facilities - especially the bathroom with the massive bathtub - were very clean and as shown in the photos.

Good but could be better. Stay was OK, but another couple was playing loud music and nobody from the staff said anything about it until we asked. That is not OK in an environment where loud music is not allowed. Also, all curtains were way too small.

As you correctly mention, loud music is not allowed in the estate in order to preserve the peaceful bush environment that most guests come to enjoy. Normally, our team addresses this immediately, so it is disappointing to hear that this only happened after you mentioned it. We will remind the team to be more proactive in ensuring that the quiet atmosphere is respected at all times. Regarding the curtains, thank you for pointing this out. Gem in the Bush is a guesthouse, where certain spaces such as the pool, lounge and dining area are shared between guests, which also means that mutual respect between visitors is important to maintain the calm atmosphere of the lodge. Bly was so so. Ek het lekker gebly, dit is 'n mooi plek, skoon en baie netjies. Dit is baie naby aan die pad geleë, kon dalk net bietjie meer in die bos gewees het. Die kamer is glad nie goed gemeubileer nie; inteendeel, net 'n bed en 'n klein koffietafeltjie in die hoek. Gordyne is aaklig; twee styf getrekte gordyne maak nie eers die groot oopskuifdeur toe nie, dieselfde met die groot venster. Die badkamer en buite stort is baie netjies en modern.

We are also happy that you appreciated the bathroom and the outdoor shower, which many of our guests particularly enjoy. Regarding the location, the lodge is indeed situated within the bush estate but close to the access road, which allows guests to easily reach nearby attractions while still being surrounded by nature. Concerning the furniture in the room, we have chosen a minimalist style to keep the space open, calm, and uncluttered, in line with the peaceful bush atmosphere. However, we understand that some guests may prefer more furniture, and we appreciate you sharing your perspective. Thank you again for your visit, and we hope to welcome you again in the future.

Gem in the Bush is a guesthouse, where some areas such as the pool, dining area and lounge are shared with other guests. This is clearly indicated in our listing so visitors know what to expect before booking. Many of our guests particularly enjoy the calm atmosphere of the bush, the opportunity to relax around the pool, or even have breakfast on the rooftop overlooking the nature reserve.
