Description
Wings Self-catering Apartment has an eco-friendly sustainable tourism focus, located in the tranquil village of Suiderstrand, a unique village hemmed in on the landward side by the Agulhas National Park and the Atlantic Ocean on the seaward side, at the most southern tip of Africa. This self-catering apartment is located in the midst of nature with abundant bird-life, and just a short walk to the sea, it also has hiking and biking (MTB) trails.
The apartment can accommodate up to 4 guests and comprises 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and an open-plan kitchen and living area. The main bedroom contains a double bed, and an en-suite bathroom fitted with a bath and a shower, a toilet and a washbasin. The second bedroom contains 2 single beds and an en-suite bathroom fitted with a shower, a toilet and a washbasin. Guests are requested to bring their beach towels.
The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering and contains a gas stove, electric oven, fridge-freezer, microwave, and cutlery and crockery. There is also a dishwasher and a washing machine. The dining area is a breakfast bar with stools, while the lounge has a comfy lounge suite and a wall-mounted flat-screen TV with a selection of OVHD channels. You are welcome to bring along your own DStv decoder and smart card and connect it to the TV. This apartment also offers a solar-powered electrical back up system.
Meals can also be enjoyed on the covered patio area where you can relax looking out over the tranquil natural fynbos garden in the presence of dozens endemic and near-endemic birds.
Wings’ front door faces east and is an idyllic place from where you can watch the moonrise over the limestone hills, and if you are lucky to hear the hoot of the eagle-owl, the squawk of the night-herons as they leave their roost to go and feed or hear the call of the fiery-necked night-jar. On dark nights the stars are so bright it feels as if they are close enough for you to pick the Southern Cross out of the Milky Way by hand.
The eco-friendly sustainable tourism focus includes activities such as rainwater harvesting, using grey-water in the garden, recycling of plastic, glass, paper, and cardboard and we now use solar power as our primary electricity source.
