Truly a gem in Delareyville, not many options when staying there. Was very surprised on how well the location is looked after and customer service was exceptional.

Well-equipped lodge, friendly, and very helpful staff. Beautiful scenery and total peace and quiet. Ample Game on the far, perfect for group or family getaways. We enjoyed our stay. Looking forward to visiting them again soon.

Little surprises

The venue is one of the very best in the area in terms of price, ambience, amenities, brand new tasteful furnishings and decorations as well as crisp, clean and fresh linen etc. The manager was extremely friendly and helpful and offered assistance wherever I got stuck. Sadly, a number of minor issues spoiled the experience. I decided to transfer to another facility nearby for the last two days of my stay. On Saturday night, a large birthday bash was hosted in the small hall close by. It lasted until 12 when the band packed up. The noise was not excessive, but it was unexpected and not welcome. I should have confirmed whether the venue hosts parties over weekends. Some guests took smoke breaks outside my bedroom window. I do not enjoy smoke. I initially filtered the venue from the website under self-catering accommodation, but it was actually not self-catering. When I later went into the small print further down the accommodation details on the website, it was mentioned that it is not self-catering. At the time that I did the booking, I just did not have the time to scrutinise everything, hence I relied on the website filter to be accurate. The rooms do have fridges and coffee-making facilities, but it was not intended to be self-catering because there is a fully functioning restaurant next door. Unfortunately, I had already bought prepared meals from Woolworths after I confirmed the booking. I would rather have supported the restaurant and not have wasted money on ready meals, had I known better. The manager kindly offered for my meal to be heated in the restaurant microwave, but it felt all wrong because I feel it is sneaky to have your own food with a restaurant next door. The kettle was out of order. One of the bedside lamp globes was out of order. On Sunday morning, the hot water ran out when I decided to take a bath because the dishes had to be done from the party the night before. I generally try to avoid driving through townships, but this is the only way to access the venue from the Northeast. There have been no incidents, but this could change. The manager was however so considerate as to call me while on my way there, to warn me about the bad stretch of road that I was going to encounter. He also arranged to meet me just inside town and escorted me from there to the venue. A security guard is appointed to patrol the premises throughout the night. The various animals on the farm creates a pleasant homely ambience. At the time of booking in, I already had plenty of kilometres behind me as well as a couple of really long and hard days. The subsequent little surprises reduced what could otherwise have been a really pleasant stay, especially seen in the light of the obvious effort and money the owners had invested in making this the best venue in town. Maybe I was just unlucky. I am hopeful that over time the glitches will be ironed out to make this the sought-after destination that it deserves to be.

We had a lovely stay. The place is beautiful & peaceful. There was a series of tiny unfortunate events, but every time Mark was the knight in shining armour to save the day! He was fantastic!
