Definitely not in winter or if smoking.
Firstly, in general… the host seems to be more occupied by the STAR KIDS after care / holiday care business run on the same premises, than the wellbeing of guests paying for accommodation. For example… Shortly after arrival on 14 July, I WA'd the host as there was no hot water in the bathroom basin. I was requested to remove the water saving aerator from the mixer, leave it outside and it would be replaced. By the time we left on the morning of Saturday 20/07/2024, nothing had been done yet. There is no cover whatsoever at the manually operated, locked gate to the parking area assigned to units/rooms 1 & 2 (seems guests booking unit 3 has access to a remotely operated garage) or the parking area along the side of the house itself or over the entrances to units/rooms 1 & 2. With the constant winter rain and wind, someone has to get soaked unlocking the gate and locking it again once the vehicle passed through and then walk to the units/rooms. The same goes for unpacking/packing suitcases etc. from vehicles. There is no lighting at all at the gate, along the driveway / designated guest parking area or in front of the rooms from about 02:00 due to the solar lighting failure. Hence, if you intend leaving before sunrise, make sure to have a torch as the high steps etc. could be your downfall, especially when wet. Due to the lack of cover over units/rooms 1 & 2, it's impossible to leave the doors open for fresh air. At least unit/room 1 has several windows that can be opened, compared to unit/room 2’s only small bathroom window. During heavy rain, the rain/wind spray plus the spray from the Roto Tank overflow stream of water that is shooting directly at the door of unit/room 2 and causing a river of water running towards the drain towards Room 3, make it even worse to get out of unit/room 2. The parking arrangement/management is a huge problem… we were lucky that we were family booking units/rooms 1 & 2… if these units were booked by unfamiliar couples, it could cause major issues if the owners of the car in front wanted to go out at night or leave early in the morning with the owners of the car behind wanting to sleep in or were not available to move their vehicle. We also had to WA, call and even knock on the host’s door twice to have vehicles blocking the entrance/exit to/from unit/room 1 & 2’s designated parking area, removed. Units/room specifics… Since my brother and wife (from Singapore) booked unit/room 1, my wife and I booked unit/room 2, hence we were fortunate/unfortunate to see the vast differences between the 2 units/rooms, something I suppose not many other guests have and I honestly can't see how the 2 rooms can be charged the same price of R665 per night for 2 people and as not fully equipped for self-catering, but does have heat-and-eat facilities. Unit/Room sizes: Unit/Room 1 outside measurement: 30 x 200mm pavers = 6m. Unit/Room 2 outside measurement: 21 x 200mm pavers = 4.2m. i.e. Unit/Room 1 is 30% bigger than Room 2. Unit/room amenities: Unit/room 1 has a gas stove with cooker hood, unit/room 2 has one of those that work with the gas canisters that not everybody is accustomed to, and no operating instructions. Unit/room 1 has a much bigger kitchenette workspace than unit 2. Unit/room 1 has at least a bit of a breakfast nook with 2 bar stools and 1 upholstered chair, Unit 2 doesn't have any eating space and only 1 plastic garden chair. In unit/room 2, one has to eat on the bed. Unit/room 1 has hot and cold water at the kitchenette sink (although very small and hardly able to fit the plates, basically a prep bowl), unit/room 2 only has cold water with which to do dishes, etc. Unit/room 1 has separate taps for hot and cold water in the shower (open hot tap fully and then open cold tap until desired water temp is achieved), unit 2 has a mixer in the shower and basin which make it pretty difficult, if not impossible, to regulate the water temp from the gas water heater… water is either freezing cold or burning hot with the minutest of adjustment, since gas water heaters, water saving aerators and mixers don’t work well together… water saving shower heads and mixers don’t allow enough water flow to ignite the gas water heater burner. Unit/room 1 has several plus/multiplugs conveniently above worktops, etc., to charge phones, tablets, etc., while unit 2 only has 1 multiplug on a very short lead on the ground at the worst possible place (had to use a cooler box to put the only multiplug on to reach out phones/watches charging cables). Unit/room 2: All lights (main room ceiling lights, bathroom lights and extractor fan) all working from 1 switch and situated nearly as far away from the door as possible next to the door suspect to have been the garage/house entrance door at the far end of the room diagonally across from the entrance. Unit/room 2: Bedside lamps battery operated and charged via micro USB connector. Found extremely short cables on Tuesday, but no charger… by then already bought micro USB cable to charge, never informed. Toiletries: Unit/room 1: ?. Unit/room 2: Some liquid hand soap and toilet paper, no shower gel/soap or shampoo supplied at all. Other: Room 1: ?. Room 2: Coffee and sugar for 4 cups and 3 milk sachets, last coffee/sugar ruined by sour milk, thereafter no restock, buy own. Heating/cooling: Room 1: No heating at all, at least a fan. Room 2: No heating at all, no fan either. Room service… No room service (cleaning, change of linen, etc.) irrespective of length of stay.
