Rarebird is an experience worth having. At first glance, this isn’t our style at all. Bold colours. Eclectic pieces. Layered textures. Art everywhere you turn. On paper, it’s probably not something I would have instinctively booked. And yet… something about it caught our eye. And I am so glad we trusted that instinct. Staying at Rarebird feels less like checking into accommodation and more like stepping into an art gallery you get to live inside. Every room tells its own story. The colours are confident, the styles unapologetic, and somehow — against all odds — it all just works. From the moment you walk in, you realise this place has been curated, not decorated. Each space flows into the next with intention. Rich blues, deep greens, dramatic wallpapers, unexpected artwork, and little details that stop you mid-step just to look again. Even the bathrooms are a visual experience — moody tiles, striking contrasts, and design choices that make you smile rather than fade into the background. It’s quirky, bold, and beautifully cohesive. What surprised me most is how comfortable it feels. Despite the strong personality, it’s warm. Inviting. You don’t feel overwhelmed — you feel inspired. It’s the kind of place where you notice something new every time you walk past it. Where colours that shouldn’t work together somehow do. Where nothing feels accidental. Rarebird may not be our usual aesthetic, but it captured us completely. We left saying the same thing over and over again: “I’m so glad we booked this.” If you love spaces with personality, creativity, and soul — places that dare to be different — then Rarebird is an experience worth having.

Beautiful, unique house with amazing quality furnishings. We had a fantastic one-night stay. Beautiful, spacious and very safe. The host was always available and treated us with so many extras. The house has everything you need for long stays and overnight. We loved the wine glasses! Always nice to have good glasses to drink from. Thanks.

Fantasties. Wat ’n juweel van ’n plek! Ons verblyf was absoluut fantasties! Die plek was super netjies en heerlik cozy – perfek om tot rus te kom. Daar is alles wat ’n mens nodig het en nog meer – van ’n wasmasjien en skottelgoedwasser tot complementary snacks wat ons aangenaam verras het. Wat vir my uitgestaan het, was die pragtige dekor – elke detail is met sorg beplan en gee die plek ’n unieke karakter wat jy nie sommer elders in Bloemfontein kry nie. Die eienaars loop werklik die ekstra myl om hul gaste tuis te laat voel. Ek sal hierdie akkommodasie sonder twyfel aanbeveel en sien al klaar uit na my volgende besoek!
