If this was the last place available, I'd pay someone else to sleep in a tent in their backyard.
Afternoon 1 (17 April 2023): We arrived at the guesthouse at approximately 17:30. Upon check-in, the staff was very friendly and helpful. We put our bags down and showered. All was well when we left at 18:15. Night 1 (18 April 2023): We arrived shortly after 22:00, prior to leaving at 18:15. The remote to the gate worked fine when I opened it, but then failed to close. Being that time of night, the guesthouse's reception was locked. I sent a text message to which I still haven't received a response, then called for assistance. Still being very helpful, the staff assisted us by 'fixing' the gate, so we went to bed around 23:00. Morning 2 (19 April 2023): At 06:45, the shower's water had gone completely ice cold. We went downstairs and mentioned this to the staff members. I'm unsure what they did but only at 07:00 I managed to shower. At this point, we were already running late. Despite stating that there is a coffee/tea station in the room, there was nothing. We went downstairs, to which the one staff member, with attitude, asked us if we booked for breakfast. We said no, but we'll just grab coffee as that was supposed to be inclusive with each room. We left with our travel mugs filled with coffee and left. Night 2 (19 April 2023): We arrived at the guesthouse at 21:15, yet again to a faulty gate that would not open or close. We pressed the bell at the gate for assistance and the staff were seemingly annoyed that somehow this was now our fault. We were equally annoyed, but kept our cool. Morning 3 (20 April 2023): We got up early to shower to avoid any of the previous hiccups. The water pressure was ridiculously low. The DStv stopped working. The aircon that could previously work on warm and cold settings could now suddenly just remain on 18°C. At this point, I was convinced we were being toyed with or sabotaged. Afternoon 3 (20 April 2023): We went home to unwind and shower, with the following departure time being 18:30 and return time 21:30. All was fine this afternoon, and we could relax and take in the tranquility of the guesthouse. We left with a working gate since someone had apparently come out and fixed the gate. Night 3 (20 April 2023): This was by far the worst experience of my life when it comes to assistance from someone whose literal job it is to assist guests at a guesthouse. We arrived back around 21:45, everything was dark and quiet. We opened the gate, only to find that other guests had parked on our parking spot, despite staff stating during check-in that that particular spot was designated to us for the duration of our stay. We called for assistance again, knocking on the attendee's room door that was previously stated to be done as an alternative to calling with no answer. The person opened the door, clearly frustrated. They walked outside with us, the gate was open and wouldn't close and our car was standing outside. I asked which button I should press to open the other side of the gate, to which I received a rude answer in an attitude I can't describe using only words. The attendant just left us outside, but I managed to open the gate. Morning 4 (21 April 2023): After showering in hot water in the morning for the first time, we proceeded to pack our bags, there was no help checking out as there was checking in. Staff members were awkwardly hiding in the kitchen, waiting for us to leave. We exchanged sarcastic, abrupt thank you's, handed over the key back and left with sighs of relief that the unpleasant stay was over. Good riddance. I truly hope to never encounter the building, staff members, or the guesthouse as a whole.
