The House on the Hill

A delightful, comfortable 1860 farmhouse full of character and charm.

We visit McGregor regularly, probably 6 or 7 times a year for the past 10 years, and this is the most delightful, comfortable home full of character that we have ever rented. It is an authentic historic 1860 farm cottage - with a large garden, pool and beautiful old gypsy caravan to add to the pleasure of those lucky enough to stay there.

Very pleasant stay on the edge of town. Quirky and comfortable.

We had a very happy stay at The House on the Hill. It is a quirky arty historical cottage with an old world feel. Front and back stoeps, peaceful and secluded. Small plunge pool for hot lazy afternoons. Wonderful friendly service and a complimentary bottle of wine. Will definitely be back.

Most enjoyable.

Great value for money. Owners have thought of everything. Loved the bath soak! We will be back when we can stay longer.

Ons het heerlik ontspan saam met die kinders en tyd gehad vir gesels en speletjies. Lekker geswem, geraai, gestap, gelees en rondgelê!

Was net 'n plesier om vir die 2 nagte daar te wees en te ontspan. Ek sal verseker weer teruggaan iewers in die toekoms.

Al die fasiliteite wat beskikbaar was, het aan my verwagtings voldoen.

Rustige naweek in 'n pragtige plek.

Monica op WhatsApp was fantasies. Ons kon heerlik laat uit-check. Die huisie en tuin is beautiful en swembad heerlik. Baie goed toegerus met alles wat mens nodig het.

Pleasant stay with friendly hosts, but with a few bumps.

Overall we enjoyed our stay. The hosts were accommodating and efficient and the little welcome gift was a nice touch. We also appreciated having an extra night on the house. However, for the price, we were expecting satellite TV and a good internet connection. There was no TV and the internet connection was really bad. The plumbing was also an issue with the shower overflowing due to bad pipes and the basin or bath not draining properly either. Also, the one bed in the two bed bedroom, was very uncomfortable and creaked very loudly, so my one guest had to sleep on the day bed in the lounge which was not ideal.

Ons het heerlik gekuier. Die huis het als wat nodig is, en ons het ure op die stoep spandeer en die natuurskoon ingeneem. McGregor is 'n skatkis.

Lovely place to stay.

Everything is catered for in this house, with fun and interesting interiors and details.

We enjoyed the stay and break in the country side was relaxing and refreshing. The house on the hill had everything a family needs to make the stay amazing. Lovely spacious accommodation and great for young kids to running around and explore.

We managed to walk from the house to town and back again in 10000 steps. The kids enjoyed the stay and as mentioned the house was really great.

Very relaxing and comfortable. Enjoyed the pool.

The shower needs to be much stronger.

Ons het ons tydjie by House on the Hill baie geniet. Die wonderlike tuin het die kleintjie lekker besig gehou. Sal baie graag weer daar gaan bly.

Baie aangenaam. Goeie akkommodasie. Baie netjies.

Blissfully amazing!

The House on The Hill was everything we have hoped for and more! From the beautiful cottage style house with all his amazing and interesting little trinkets everywhere, kitchen that had all you needed, lovely bedrooms with such comfy beds that made us not want to wake up, beautiful bathroom with bath and shower, not to mention the most stunning garden area outside with all the beautiful flowers and trees with a treehouse and swings that looked like something out of a magazine. Amazing pool and braai area! Everything was so clean and really made us feel welcome and we did not want to leave! The restaurants in McGregor was 5 star quality, we couldn't believe how amazing the food were! If you live in the city with all the hustle and bustle this is most definitely the place to just come and reboot at this hidden gem! Thank you Tim and Miki and Monica we will most definitely come visit you again!
