"Great landscapes (also without flowers), the mountain ranges are great, in the barren north as well as in the lush south. Namaqua National Park with its passes and vistas is great. One restaurant in Hondeklipbay which we visited on our only afternoon and evening there was excellent and although rudimentary in furnishings the meals we had were delicious and very tasty. The restaurant's name is DOP en KREEF."

"Namaqualand has its own beauty. I did not like Springbok, which seems to have gotten dirtier in the decade since I visited it last. The N7 coming up from Cape Town was a pleasure to drive, with a nice stop at Gerber farmstall near Garies for lunch. However, the road from Springbok to Upington is endless and dry, and the reststops are filthy - not a good trip."
