Wonderful and comfortable. We came to attend a funeral of a dear friend. The sense of peace and feeling of security that is part of the atmosphere at Grandview contributed to making our grieving a lot more bearable.

Puik, asemrowend, harmonies, ontspannend. It was literally home away from home. Kon nie vir beter gevra het nie. Net die bloote feit dat ek net kon ontspan het en niks moes doen nie. Van kosmaak tot heeldag skoonmaak. Dit was net besonders en die uitsig oor Kaapstad perfek.

Spacious, secure, beautiful in every way. We were made very welcome. The accommodation was spacious, secure and beautiful. The service was excellent, and the view was very grand. We loved being there for the 7 days we booked and would definitely come again, and recommend others to stay there.

Served the purpose, the host is friendly and responds to each message. The unit is attached to the house and to access the unit you use an open staircase that crosses the kitchen of the main house. So out of respect, you find yourself tiptoeing when using those open stairs. The smell of the food from the kitchen lingers in the unit. They did not mention they have cats. The smell of the cats hits you as you open the door from your unit. It was not pleasant. Because of this crossing their kitchen to access the unit, they have a curfew of 23:30. My 22-year-old daughter had to sleep at friends because they went out one night. Who wants to ask for permission while I'm paying for accommodation?

Thank you for your feedback and for your 4.8-star rating — we truly appreciate it. We would, however, like to clarify a few important points for the benefit of future guests. There could not have been a lingering “food smell” originating from cooking, as no food is prepared on the premises. The owner does not cook meals; only pre-prepared meals are occasionally reheated. In addition, the guesthouse makes use of Anke diffusers and oil burners, which contribute to the scent within the space. Regarding access to the unit and the curfew: the layout of the property, including the staircase access through the main house, as well as the 23:30 curfew, are clearly communicated in our House Rules prior to booking. By confirming a stay, guests agree to these terms. That said, we made a special exception during your stay, and your daughter was accommodated returning after 01:00 am. In terms of your daughter’s accommodation, our records indicate that she stayed on the property each night. With regard to the cats: our two senior cats are strictly separated from both the guest areas and the main house access used by guests. As such, there would have been no direct encounter. Their presence is also clearly disclosed in our indemnity form, where we advise guests with allergies or sensitivities to inform us in advance.
