Absolute disappointment.

We were deeply disappointed by AfriCamps at de Pakhuys. Upon arrival, we were very happy with the tents themselves. They were lovely and clean. However, shortly after arrival, we had no electricity or running water, even though the property advertises not to be affected by load shedding. We immediately notified reception. By midday the following day, the inverter had still not been assessed. This was a constant issue throughout our stay, and not only during load shedding. When we had finally had enough and complained to the person running the place, he promptly told us it was not his problem. He also suggested we just check out on our last night. This was late evening, and we have a baby with us. I found this very unprofessional. He proceeded to race to our tent in an aggressive manner. He claimed to have forgotten to let us know we could walk to fetch water and gave us a bucket to flush the toilet with. Absolutely shocking. The rest of the facilities are unkempt and not clean. A very false picture is painted in the advertising. We have visited a different AfriCamps before and had a good experience. However, here we paid a lot of money to be treated badly. Would like to take this further.

Dear Andre,
Thank you for your feedback which we only received today from LekkeSlaap and the information contained therein. We are delighted that you enjoyed the AfriCamps tent and found it to be lovely and clean.
Unfortunately, there was an Eskom power failure in the area which had nothing to do with the inverter itself. The Eskom issue couldn't be resolved during your stay and this was unfortunately out of our hands. The management team advised that they kept everybody informed at all times, gave free 5lt waters from the shop and offered that guests could check out if they chose too. I understand that you were also offered to move free of charge to one of the units on the property which are on solar, however, you declined.
We are sorry that you found the staff onsite to be unprofessional, given the circumstances they do feel that they did their utmost to assist when the issue was beyond their control. However, we do apologise if you found this not to be the case and have raised this with the owner to address.
We are sorry to hear that you felt other facilities were unkempt and unclean and would appreciate knowing which facilities you are referring to as we do not offer any AfriCamps communal spaces at this location.
Being that the fault was not due to the inverter but Eskom, we do believe there has been no false advertising.

Fantastiese uitsig, pragtige eenhede.

Heerlik gekuier. Eenhede was pragtig en silwerskoon en goed toegerus. WiFi was baie welkom want daar was geen ander opvangs in die area nie. Buite warmbad was heerlik onder die sterre. 'n Besliste wenner bestemming en sal weer gaan.

Dit is vir ons so lekker om te hoor julle tyd en ervaring by AfriCamps was een vir die boeke! Dankie vir die wonderlike terugvoering. Ons sien uit daarna om julle weer terug te verwelkom vir nog 'n heerlike wegbreek.

Mooi area en het alles wat ons nodig het.

Die son is 'n groot probleem van die middag na 12 uur, want daar is geen koelte op die stoep. As julle dit kan uitsorteer, is dit 'n baie lekker plek om te bly. Ek hou van die hot tub - die beste van al die plekke waar ons die 2 weke gebly het. Die lugversorger is net effektief in die een kamer - die kamer met stapelbed blok dit af vir die tweede kamer.

Hi Marceleen, baie dankie vir jou terugvoering en voorstelle. Ons is baie bly dat julle die omgewing sowel as julle tyd by ons kamp geniet het. Dankie vir die terugvoering rakende die bed wat moontlik die koue lug blok, ons sal dit beslis in gedagte hou. Ons hoop om julle gou weer te verwelkom by een van ons kampe.

Relaxing and comfortable. Loved it.

The tents were clean and perfectly stocked. The fact that loadshedding did not affect lights and Wi-Fi was a welcome surprise.

Dit was so so heerlik om in die natuurskoon te bly en die luuksheid te kon hê van 'n heerlike houtstofie en elektriese kombers.

Ons het die geleentheid gehad om vir altyd in ons lewens 'n onvergeetlike herinnering te maak.

Lekker, maar teleurstellend.

Ons het lekker gekuier, maar met loadshedding en die onvermoë van die geyers om warm water te stoor, kon ons nie op die tye wanneer ons by die kamp was (tussen ekskursies) met warm water stort nie. Ons toilet was ook geblok en alhoewel ons dit by ontvangs aangemeld het, is daar niks aan gedoen/ondersoek ingestel nie, dus was ons toiletgeriewe ook nie optimaal nie. Die eggo daar teen die rotse uit is nogals geweldig, en dit het gevoel asof die groep langsaan Vrydagaand binne ons leefvertrek gekuier het, so neem maar oorpluisies saam en moenie noodwendig staatmaak op stilte nie, want toe hulle bedaar, het 'n groep elders begin.

Dear Philine,

Thank you for your feedback, we really do appreciate it.

We are so sorry that you experienced issues with the hot water due to load shedding, we have actually installed a UPS back up to keep the geyser and lights in working order during loadshedding at this property, it is possible that the DB board tripped and caused the issue.
The duty manager did send someone to check the drains further down the line and should have communicated this with you at the time, we are so sorry for any miscommunication
The crisp mountain air tends to carry sound a long way, the camp was full over the weekend and all though we try and manage noise levels around camp, it is not always possible to control guests at all tents.
We are delighted that you had a great time despite this and hope to welcome you to AfriCamps again some time soon.
