"In my opinion, the primary reason for going to Sutherland would be to visit SALT. Exceptional star gazing is provided there. The day and night tours are different and both great value seeing some cool things. The restaurants make fantastic food, but booking in advance is highly recommended."
"Sterrekyk was 'n fantastiese ervaring. Definitief die moeite werd om die planetarium se geriewe te gebruik. (Baie dankie Willem en die meisies). Die begeleide toer deur die NG Kerk was baie insiggewend en het baie lig op die land se geskiedenis gewerp. Baie dankie, Darius. 'n Lekker stappie deur die dorp se strate is ook aan te bevele. Wat mens nogal opval is hoe netjies en skoon die dorp is."
"Accommodation was perfect. Besides the S.A.L.T there is really nothing else for teenagers to do. It is really a place to just to nothing and unwind. The rugged mountains and surrounding landscapes is a thing of pure beauty."
"Ons het vanaf Merweville na Sutherland met die R356 (grondpad en vele hekke) gery. Dis aan te beveel. Ons het met 'n Ford Ecosport gery, sou nie met 'n gewone, plat motor dit doen nie."

"Sutherland is an underrated gem. The combination of fossils, SALT, stargazing tours, the beautiful landscape and an inactive volcano make it ideal as a destination for families with small children, provided they can stay up late enough for the stargazing tours. Don't make the mistake of going when the moon is full as this limits the stargazing available and rather go when the sky is dark. Stay at a self-catering place and make sure to take food as the local restaurants are not very good and even the OK in town is poorly stocked."
